A Piece of My Heart .3

Chapter 3
The curtains dropped and a once blackened room was now dim. A sharp pain struck my chest followed by a cold chill, “she couldn’t of have meant that kiss” I tried to tell myself. “It’s only acting” was the only thought that would keep me from exploding. Nobody said anything to me while in the Preforming arts center, better known as the (PAC). We were released around 1:40. In the hallway was where I started to see that picture. With everyone walking up to me asking questions about the kiss. Telling me Serenity wanted to kiss him. Telling me she liked it. Telling me they had seen them together on multiple occasions. I could only reply okay or I know. I was trying to block out everyone’s comments when Zaria an old friend placed a nail in the coffin and hammered in down confirming the comments that everyone was making.
Huey told me not to worry about it. “It’s only a play. Plus the performance was really good.” He reassured me. We both went our separate ways after that. He went with his girl Yolanda and me I started looking for mine.
When I found Serenity she was leaving the back hallway of the PAC right next to the cafeteria. She was smiling of course. Jealousy was on my mind but I didn’t let it stop me from congratulating her on her performance. “So what’d you think?” Serenity asked with this grin on her face. I have to be honest I didn’t expect that kiss at the end. I tried to laugh it off but I couldn’t after the comments that were made. “So do you like him?” I may have said too much because Serenity just started to look at me with an emotionless face. "Where is this coming from Malcolm?” I stood motionless ready to give my rebuttal, “the whole school seen you. Zaria even seen you chilling with him while I was at practice."
Without hesitation Serenity put a stop to my complaining, “It’s only acting Malcolm. You don’t have anything to worry about. And you better stop listening to what other people say… especially Zaria she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. We were going over lines. Nothing more and nothing less.” I didn’t have anything to say because somewhere deep down I felt like she was right. The only thing I should be worried about is wrestling.
The walk home was quiet, Serenity didn’t really want to talk because of the way I over reacted. She walked with her arms crossed and whenever that happened it meant she didn’t want to be bothered. You pick up on things when you’re with someone for a few years.
